RC Lens have confirmed on 13 July 2026 that Angelo Fulgini is leaving the club for good. The attacking midfielder has been released from his contract to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Khaleej FC. Lens are now without Fulgini after three and a half years in Sang et Or colours.
What happened?
Lens announced Fulgini’s departure on X, confirming the player’s move was finalised. The club stated it had released the 29-year-old from his obligations to allow the transfer to Saudi Arabia. « Angelo Fulgini quitte définitivement le Racing. Le club a libéré le milieu de ses engagements contractuels afin de lui permettre de s’engager au Al-Khaleej FC. Merci pour les émotions et bonne continuation Angelo ! », the club wrote on its official account.
Fulgini leaves after 82 appearances for Lens since joining in January 2023. He scored six goals and made four assists in Ligue 1. Last season, on loan at Al-Taawoun, he netted five goals and set up 11 more, but no longer featured in the Lens first-team plans.
Why Fulgini’s exit matters for Lens
With no goals scored or conceded in Ligue 1 so far this season, Lens are already under pressure. The 14th-placed side with zero points after matchday one must now address Fulgini’s loss. The midfielder’s departure adds to a busy transfer window for the club.
Fulgini impressed in Saudi Arabia last year. His creativity will be missed as Lens aim to climb the table. The coaching staff must find a replacement quickly, especially with Nidal Čelik still sidelined.
What’s next for Fulgini?
The 29-year-old joins Al-Khaleej FC in the Saudi Pro League, a league attracting top talent. His European experience and successful loan spell should help him settle in. Lens, meanwhile, still have transfer business to complete before their next game — a home clash with ESTAC Troyes on 20 February 2027. A must-win fixture to kickstart their season.
